MRT Train jammed through barriers

Bad news for commuters!

The MRT train was derailed just this afternoon at Taft Avenue EDSA Station. People said that the train went past to the wall barriers causing a post that fell on a car.


According to Rappler, Panic was aroused through the passengers. Passengers said that problems started   when the aircon of the train went off.  "May nag-start so nag-panic kami. Umandar [yung train] pero walang aircon,” some passengers said.

Witnesses said as the train were about to stop at the last station, the doors opened and the passengers panicked. Other witnesses said they can feel something is wrong when they saw the spark passing Magallanes in Makati.

Many are injured the worst of it the first coach which is reserved for women, children, senior citizen, PWD and pregnant women. It is said that one and half of the coaches went pass through the barrier and hit the post which fall over a car. 9 of the passengers were sent to the San Juan De Dios Hospital in Pasay while other was brought to Pasay City General Hospital. There is still an on-going rescue for the remaining passengers of the train. 

MMDA advised commuters and motorists to "expect heavy traffic". It's also Wednesday, Novena day!

Commuters, choose an alternative route to go home and be careful.
